dc.description.abstract | Announces decision to implement Alternative 2 of the project EA, to thin about 189 acres of overstocked, mid-seral, natural stands experiencing stagnation and mortality, contributing approximately 8000-9000 CCF (hundred cubic feet) of wood fiber toward the District's timber target for 2007, enhancing growth and vigor of timber stands and/or reducing future losses from fire, insects, and diseases. Additionally, thinning would maintain dispersal, and sometimes suitable (nesting, roosting, and foraging) habitat, within harvest units in a critical habitat unit for northern spotted owls, and to return future management options in an area that is currently unroaded. | en |
